Prime Minister affirms Iraq's support for Syrian territorial integrity

    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed, today, Sunday, that Iraq stands with Syrian territorial integrity, preserving civil peace, minority rights, social, cultural and ethnic diversity, and non-interference in internal affairs.
     
    The Prime Minister's media office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met today, Sunday, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Iraq, Mr. Mohamed Al-Hassan. The meeting included discussions on the relations and joint programs between Iraq and the United Nations, as well as the latest developments in Syria.”
     
    The discussions also addressed the government’s efforts to complete its plans for economic reform, combat corruption, and advance other sectors in alignment with the government program. The Prime Minister emphasized Iraq’s commitment to fostering stability and development.
     
    Regarding regional developments, particularly in Syria, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Iraq’s stance on supporting the unity of Syrian territories, preserving social harmony, protecting the rights of minorities, and respecting the country’s social, cultural, and ethnic diversity. He reiterated Iraq’s principle of non-interference in internal affairs and its readiness to assist the Syrian people in overcoming this difficult phase.
     
    Al-Hassan commended the government’s reform initiatives and its progress in achieving development. He also praised Iraq’s clear stance on the events in Syria, its readiness to support the Syrian people, and its humanitarian aid efforts for the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples.
