President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed, today, Sunday, the importance of the keenness of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, on Iraq's stability and keeping it away from regional conflicts.
The Presidency of the Republic stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received in Baghdad, the Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mohammad al-Hassan," noting that "during the meeting, the general situation in Iraq was reviewed, in addition to the developments of the regional scene, especially the developments of the situation in Syria, and efforts to reach solutions that guarantee the unity and stability of Syria."
The President of the Republic explained, according to the statement, "the importance of the role played by the international mission in supporting stability and development in Iraq and facing current challenges," stressing "the importance of the vision of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, in light of the Supreme Religious Authority's conversation with the Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Sayyid al-Sistani's keenness on Iraq's stability and keeping it away from regional conflicts."
For his part, Al-Hassan stressed, "The United Nations' commitment to preserving the sustainability of the gains achieved in Iraq on the security and development levels and striving to enhance them."
