Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today, Thursday, in Madrid with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA),”The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation between Iraq and Spain across various fields and addressed key issues based on the deep bilateral relations marked by a history of collaboration the visit continues to build on these ties and follows the progress achieved during Prime Minister Sánchez’s visit to Baghdad late last year.”
Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized,” that Spain’s supportive positions encourage the Iraqi government to establish a comprehensive and promising partnership, reflected in the active presence of Spanish companies in Iraq’s development efforts, he highlighted that strengthening bilateral relations is part of the government’s strategy for engaging with all international coalition member states after their mission in Iraq ends, with Spain being one of the participating nations.”
Prime Minister Al-Sudani also expressed,” appreciation for Spain’s stance on the Palestinian cause, particularly its recognition of the State of Palestine and its calls for ending the war on Gaza and Lebanon the meeting further touched upon shared perspectives regarding global challenges.”
The statement added,” Prime Minister Sánchez expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Al-Sudani for accepting the invitation to visit Spain, reaffirming Iraq’s significance and central role in the region he also noted Spain’s desire to establish a strong partnership with Iraq and highlighted the interest of Spanish companies in participating in various projects in the country.”
