Syria's permanent representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Hussam Eddin Ala, expressed his country's support for Iraq in preserving its sovereignty and the sanctity of its lands, denouncing the Zionist allegations directed against Iraq.

In a statement before the extraordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates to discuss ways to confront the aggressive Zionist measures and practices and escalation in the region, Hussam Al-Din Ala said, as followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Syria was among the first countries to support the request of brotherly Iraq to hold this emergency session to discuss the Zionist allegations and threats against it, realizing that the Zionist threats to expand the circle of aggression against the countries of the region are a serious reality, confirming the insistence of the occupying entity to continue the war of genocide that it is waging against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, and its ongoing barbaric aggression against brotherly Lebanon, and its insistence on pushing the region towards further escalation by intensifying its attacks on Syrian lands and expanding them to include other countries."
The ambassador renewed "Syria's firm support for brotherly Iraq in preserving its sovereignty and the sanctity of its lands, and its condemnation of the Zionist allegations directed against it, and its rejection of the attempts of the occupying entity to use them as a pretext for aggression against it," noting that "these allegations and threats are part of the systematic misleading campaigns promoted by the occupying entity, including repeated false news published by its media targeting Syria to justify the escalating attacks on its lands and create justifications to expand their scope."
He explained that "the occupying entity continues its attacks on residential neighborhoods, buildings and civil service facilities in Syria, which led to the martyrdom of dozens of innocent civilians and the injury of hundreds, the most recent of which was an air attack that targeted a number of residential buildings in the city of Palmyra, not to mention targeting the border crossings used by the displaced from Lebanon to escape the hell of the brutal Zionist aggression."
