The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, confirmed today, Thursday, that the Zionist preoccupation with Iraq came after the impact of effective diplomatic efforts in regional and international forums. At the same time, he pointed out that the Zionist complaint against Iraq and talk of intentions to target it proves the entity's thirst for blood and destruction in the region.
Al-Mandlawi said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The complaint filed by the terrorist Zionist entity in the Security Council against Iraq, and the pressures it exerted diplomatically and in the media on Baghdad, leading to talk of an Israeli military strike, and coinciding with the diplomatic efforts of the Iraqi parliament and government in regional and international forums to stop the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, are nothing but efforts to continue the killing and destruction in the region, and evidence of the brutality of this entity and its thirst for blood."
He added that "the Israeli occupation does not respect any resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations, and its commission of crimes of genocide, displacement and siege is only evidence of its hypocrisy," while at the same time holding "Washington responsible for any Zionist foolishness in expanding aggression in the region after using its veto right against the Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cessation of the war."
He stressed that "Iraq's position will never change in standing by Gaza and Lebanon," noting that "a people raised on the belief that 'humiliation is out of the question' will not be intimidated or deterred by a criminal and terrorist entity."
