Prime Minister: The government has made great strides in building trust with the regional government in two years

    Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed today, Wednesday, that the government has made great strides in building trust with the regional government over the past two years. 

    A statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the Prime Minister met, in the Salah al-Din resort in Erbil Governorate, with the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, as part of his visit to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq."

    The statement added that "during the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated the success of the regional parliament elections, stressing that this success reflects positively on all parts of Iraq, not just the region," noting "the importance of accelerating the formation of the government and maintaining political stability in the region, which supports the stability of the entire political process in Iraq."

    According to the statement, the Prime Minister appreciated "the positive spirit with which the regional government is working towards the common files with the federal government," noting that "the government has made great strides in building trust with the regional government over the past two years and addressing many problems based on strong shared desires to overcome differences."

    The statement continued, "During the meeting, the ongoing dialogues between the forces that won the elections were discussed, as the Prime Minister expressed his readiness to work and provide assistance in bringing viewpoints closer together to expedite the formation of the new regional government."

    For his part, Barzani stated that "the positive role of the Prime Minister was the reason for the success of the elections in the region, stressing the continuation of dialogues with the Kurdish forces to form the government in the region."
