Baghdad Metro tracks design and the start of the specifications phase

    The advisor to the Prime Minister for Transport Affairs, Nasser Al-Asadi, announced today, Wednesday, the completion of the design of the Baghdad Metro tracks and specified the project's cost, which amounts to 18 billion dollars.

    Al-Asadi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The Baghdad Metro project is a major project, and we are working with the Baghdad Municipality to review the financial procedures with the investor.".

    He explained that "the design of the metro tracks has been completed, and the government consultant is currently developing the specifications for the lines, trains and stations. All that remains is the administrative procedures to start the project.".

    He added that "the Baghdad Metro consists of seven lines, and the longest line is 37 kilometres long, while the shortest line is 9 kilometres long. It will cover most areas of Baghdad, with the project being expandable, and its implementation cost will be around $18 billion."
