Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq and Head of UNAMI Dr Mohamed Al Hassan, arrived in Najaf Governorate today, Monday, to meet with the Grand Ayatollah, His Eminence Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani.
An informed source in the UN mission told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "In a very sensitive regional and international atmosphere, characterized by escalating security threats and tensions, and in light of the internal political tensions witnessed by Iraq, the head of the international mission in Iraq, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq and Head of UNAMI Dr. Mohamed Al Hassan, and his accompanying delegation arrived in the city of Najaf to meet with the Grand Ayatollah, His Eminence Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani."
The source confirmed that "Al-Hassan carried with him many files and issues to discuss with the Grand Ayatollah, with the aim of knowing his positions on them, and the Grand Ayatollah was briefed on the most important issues on which the international mission focuses its efforts."
