Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, announced today, Thursday, that Iraq has completed the initial designs for the railway link and 84% of the designs for the land route for the development road, during the ministerial meeting held in Baghdad, which included his Turkish, Qatari and Emirati counterparts.
Al-Saadawi said in a speech during the second ministerial council meeting of the Development Road - attended by the correspondent of the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Iraq looks forward to strengthening cooperation with neighboring countries and the region with a strategic vision centered around joint economic integration in all fields," stressing "the importance of the agenda items of the second meeting of the Quadripartite Ministerial Committee, which aims to take measures and offer facilities that pave the way for embarking on the development road, which represents the nerve of economic and commercial integration."
He added, "The development of the economies of countries in the age of technology and digitization is based on many foundations, and perhaps transportation is the most influential factor in terms of cost, time and quality."
He pointed out that "our government, led by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, has made the development road a top priority in its strategic projects, along with the Grand Faw Port, as they are a basic engine and catalyst for economic growth."
He pointed out, "We have completed the initial designs for the railway line and completed the survey and soil investigation operations, while the completion rates of the initial designs for the expressway have reached 84%. We have also completed many of the requirements of the project, which will be a new artery for global trade and will contribute significantly to enhancing regional economic prosperity."
He pointed out, "We are close to announcing the completion of the docks for the Grand Faw Port, as the completion rates in the rest of the port's infrastructure are constantly increasing and according to the specified timetables," stressing, "his intention to open the first phase of the project next year."
He stressed, "The Grand Faw Port is the beating heart of the development path, and our government hopes that these two projects will achieve great growth and economy for Iraq and the countries of the region."
