Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad announced today, Thursday, the signing of a contract to develop the Mansouriya gas field with a capacity of 300 cubic meters while indicating that the contracts for the fifth and sixth supplementary licensing rounds will add more than 850 cubic meters of gas and about 750 thousand barrels of crude oil.
The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad sponsored the signing ceremony of the contract to develop the Mansouriya gas field in Diyala Governorate, which took place today, Thursday, at the ministry's headquarters with a capacity of 300 cubic meters."
Al-Sawad confirmed, "Today is considered a historic day for the ministry and the governorate with the signing of the contract with the coalition of the Chinese companies (Jera) and (Petro Iraq) in the final form, to develop the Mansouriya gas field, which will provide the gas sector with additional quantities of production estimated at (300) cubic meters per day, stressing the importance of the implementing company's commitment to the timetables for the development stages and the correct activation of the contract."
He added that "Al-Mansouriya field is one of the promising fields in gas production, which will contribute to meeting the country's need for gas to supply the national network of power generation stations with gas, and is a great achievement for the economic and social benefits that will be achieved, which will be positively reflected on the reality of the governorate, and provide job opportunities for the workforce," noting that "the ministry signed a few days ago (14) contracts from the contracts that were referred within the fifth and sixth supplementary licensing rounds, and this number of contracts is considered a great achievement for the Ministry of Oil and the government in the field of gas investment, which is emphasized by the government program."
He stated that "the two licensing rounds contracts will add more than 850 cubic meters of gas and about 750 thousand barrels of crude oil, which will contribute to maximizing the financial resources of the Iraqi state and developing the national economy."
The Director General of the Central Oil Company, Mohammed Yassin Hassan, said that “signing the contract to develop the Mansouriya field comes within the framework of the extensive follow-up of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil regarding investment in the gas sector,” stressing “the ministry’s keenness to maximize the country’s financial revenues.”
He added, "It is hoped that the initial production of the field will start with (100) cubic meters, reaching more than (300) cubic meters per day, which will feed the Mansouriya gas station," noting that "the development of dry gas fields represents a very important shift in the gas sector, especially in Diyala Governorate."
The Managing Director of Jera Company, Lee Waibin, expressed his happiness for signing the contract and his presence in Iraq, stressing that “the implementation of the contract concluded with the Ministry of Oil will be within the specified period,” while praising “the cooperation of the Ministry.”
