Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandalawi called on Wednesday for unifying visions and positions within an Arab Islamic project that protects Lebanon and Palestine, while stressing that the Zionist crimes pose a grave threat to humanitarian laws and a challenge to global security and peace and portend a devastating economic earthquake.

The media office of the acting Speaker of the House of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "The acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, met today in the capital Beirut, the Speaker of the Lebanese House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, as part of an official visit in solidarity with the Lebanese and Palestinian brothers, and in response to the directives of the supreme religious authority on the necessity of supporting them and alleviating their suffering, and within the framework of the Iraqi diplomatic efforts to stop the Zionist aggression against the peoples of the region."

Al-Mandlawi stressed that "Iraq is making great parliamentary diplomatic efforts in international and regional forums, the latest of which is its participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference and the emergency meeting of the Arab Parliament, to urge the countries of the world to engage effectively in order to pressure to stop the crimes of genocide practiced by the terrorist Zionist entity against civilians in Lebanon and Palestine," stressing that "the brutal acts of the leaders and forces of the occupation pose a grave danger to the international system and humanitarian laws, and represent a real challenge to global security and peace, and portend, if they expand, a devastating economic earthquake that threatens the peoples of the region and the entire world."

Al-Mandlawi discussed with Berri the initiatives and proposals put forward to stop the Zionist aggression and prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region, indicating that "Iraq stands by its brothers and will work with all possible means to ensure the success of peace efforts and the return of stability in Lebanon and Palestine."

He called on Islamic and Arab parliaments to "support the diplomatic efforts of the Iraqi parliament to curb the Zionist killing and destruction, and to unify visions and positions within an Islamic Arab project that protects the sovereignty of Lebanon and Palestine and achieves the just demands of the two peoples, in addition to providing real support and assistance to the two brotherly countries, and providing the necessary needs to alleviate the human suffering in them."
