The Iraqi National Security Service INSS announced on Thursday the seizure of half a million Captagon pills.
INSS said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "the detachments of INSS in Anbar province succeeded in a qualitative operation, thwarting an attempt to smuggle a huge amount of drugs into the country," noting that "the detachments were able to seize more than 500,000 Captagon pills that were shipped within a shipment of vegetables coming from one of the neighbouring countries, after an ambush that lasted for several days."
"This successful operation demonstrated the ability to gather accurate intelligence and tight planning, which enabled it to deal a heavy blow to cross-border drug trafficking networks," the statement said.
It pointed out that "the accused was referred with the seizures to the competent judicial authorities to take legal action against him."
