The Iraqi embassy in Damascus announced on Monday obtaining exceptions for the entry of Iraqis from Lebanon to Syria.

"In light of the exceptional events witnessed by Lebanon and Syria, the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Damascus continues to follow up on the conditions of Iraqi citizens abroad, especially those in Lebanon who were forced by security conditions to leave due to the ongoing attacks by the Zionist entity," included a statement by the embassy - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

According to the statement, the embassy stressed the following points:

1-The Iraqi embassy in Damascus is in continuous contact with the crisis cell at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to implement all government directives quickly and efficiently.

2-The embassy has formed field teams from its staff, present at the border crossings to facilitate the entry of Iraqis into Syrian territory.

3-The embassy is working to address the delays that the IDPs may be exposed to due to some procedures followed by the Syrian authorities, which come as a result of the great pressure from the waves of displacement. The embassy follows up on these issues directly with the Syrian authorities and is present in the field at the crossings.

4- The embassy coordinates all Iraqi governmental and popular efforts inside Syrian territory.

5- Regarding the entry of Iraqi citizens, the embassy was able to obtain exceptions that allow Iraqis coming from Lebanon to enter Syria using any official document instead of a passport.

The statement added, that "the delay at the ports is due to security and inspection measures taken by the Syrian authorities, under the great pressure on the infrastructure that deals with large numbers of travelers, despite the great efforts made by the Syrian authorities to deal with the current situation."
