Italian reports revealed, today, Thursday, that former Spanish international Sergio Ramos has become a strong candidate to join Juventus to replace the injured Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer.
According to a statement from Juventus, the central defender will undergo surgery in the coming days and is expected to be out for six to seven months, meaning he will miss the rest of the season.
This situation has prompted the Juventus board to consider finding a reliable replacement to fill the gap left by the Brazilian defender.
Veteran Spanish defender Ramos (38 years old) has emerged as one of the candidates to replace Bremer.
Ramos is eligible to sign with Juventus despite the closing of the transfer window in Italy, as the Spanish defender is currently not under contract with any team.
Ramos has been a "free agent" since leaving Sevilla last season after his contract expired.
Previous reports linked Ramos with a move to Egyptian club Zamalek, but the deal did not go through.
