Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed, on Wednesday, Iraq's call to hold an Arab and Islamic summit to create a unified position supported by pressure positions from America and European countries to stop the Zionist aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, while he indicated that there is real Iraqi concern about the expansion of the war to include several countries in the Middle East, noting that Iraq continues its efforts to achieve stability in the region.

Hussein said from New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Pressure to stop the ongoing Zionist aggression on Gaza requires a unified Arab and Islamic stance. Yesterday, during the meeting of the Arab League foreign ministers, we proposed the idea of holding an urgent Arab-Islamic summit as soon as possible to discuss the Palestinian issue and the ongoing aggression on Gaza and Lebanon. We believe that expanding the war on Lebanon means that the spark of war will reach other countries and create a state of instability that will lead to the expansion of the war in the Middle East."

He added, "Iraq continues its efforts to support steps to achieve stability in the region and invests its good relations to reach solutions. The issue requires collective Arab-Islamic action as well as increased pressure by the United States and European countries on the Zionist entity to stop the aggression that began in Gaza and then expanded to the West Bank. Now, Lebanon and Iraq are concerned about the expansion of the war to other countries."
