Adnan Darjal, the President of the Iraqi Football Association, affirmed on Sunday that the recent advancements in Iraqi football are attributed to the unlimited support from Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani and his continuous follow-up.
During a press conference marking the opening of the "La Liga" headquarters in Baghdad, attended by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Darjal stated, "The substantial support from Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, along with his attention to every detail and ongoing oversight, has been the reason for the progress in Iraqi football."
He noted that "government decisions have placed us on the right path toward development."
Darjal added that "the football Association is on the verge of implementing a real revolution in change, and we are working to transform the culture of the Iraqi player."
He pointed out that the "Dream Project" will launch in the middle of next month, establishing three training centers in three provinces, alongside numerous workshops in Madrid and Baghdad aimed at developing administrative and technical competencies.
He continued, stating that "negotiations are underway with a foreign company operating in Iraq to market the league," emphasizing that "the media has become the primary authority and is a key partner with our true partners in the La Liga Association."
Darjal also highlighted that "Iraqi Sports Channel has officially expressed its desire to broadcast the Iraqi Premier League, and they have been granted sufficient time to finalize the official approvals. Additionally, there are several channels and platforms that have shown interest in acquiring partial broadcasting rights to the league."
