The House of Representatives issued a clarification today, Friday, regarding the selection of the Human Rights Commission Council.

A statement by the Council received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "the Committee of Experts tasked with selecting the Board of Commissioners for the High Commission for Human Rights has studied all the submitted files, as the number of applicants exceeded ten thousand people, which required time to study these files comprehensively."

According to the statement "We are now in the final stages of the selection process, however, we do not hide from you that Iraq is a country consisting of several components, and it is necessary for all components to be represented in this commission."

"The delay occurred due to the large number of applicants, which greatly affected the progress of this process. In addition, we fear that this delay will lead to a reduction in Iraq's classification to level B. However, it must be emphasized that Iraq has important national institutions such as the Human Rights Commission, and we must make every effort to preserve them."

"The Committee of Experts and the Human Rights Commission are all in constant contact with the international community, and are submitting relevant national reports in this regard."
