Al-Sudani Meets Palestinian Poet Tamim Al-Barghouti

    Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today with the Palestinian poet Tamim Al-Barghouti, who is visiting Iraq as an honorary guest at the Baghdad International Book Fair.

    The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received the Palestinian poet Tamim al-Barghouti, who is visiting Iraq as a guest of honor at the Baghdad International Book Fair."

    The Prime Minister praised the Palestinian poet for his significant role in advocating for the cause of his country, Palestine, and in raising global awareness of the Palestinian people's rights to live with dignity in a free and independent Palestinian state on their historic land.

    Prime Minister Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq's steadfast and principled stance on the Palestinian cause, expressing Iraq’s unwavering support for Palestine and ongoing condemnation of the occupation forces that commit daily acts of genocide against the people of Gaza. He emphasized that any solution or new approach must be grounded in a basic level of Palestinian consensus.

    For his part, the Palestinian poet Tamim Al-Barghouti expressed his gratitude to Iraq, both its government and people, for their honorable positions in supporting Gaza and the Palestinian people. He also praised Iraq's role in the region and the sacrifices it has made to enhance its standing and ensure stability and prosperity.
