The Ministry of Oil announced on Tuesday, that the Iraqi Drilling Company-IDC has successfully completed the restoration of two oil wells in Basra.
In a statement to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry confirmed that technical and engineering teams restored the wells in Zubair and West Qurna -1 oil fields as part of ongoing efforts to sustain production in Iraq’s oil fields.
Kazem Habash Khalif, Deputy Director General of the Iraqi Drilling Company, stated that the Zubair well restoration was executed under a contract with Italy’s ENI and Great Wall Drilling Company. Meanwhile, the West Qurna 1 well was restored in cooperation with PetroChina.
Khalif explained that the restoration efforts aim to activate the productive layers and increase reservoir pressure, thereby enhancing production levels in line with the operational plan for the fields. These actions are expected to contribute positively to ensuring sustainable oil output in the region.
