The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced today, Saturday, that King Faisal Specialist Hospital has successfully performed the first complete heart transplant using a robot in the world.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the operation was performed on a patient who was no more than 16 years old and suffered from fourth-degree heart failure, with the medical team overcoming the medical challenges and complications that accompany this type of operation.
The operation took 3 hours and was carried out by an exceptional medical team, following weeks of preparations. The preparation process included detailed theoretical planning to ensure accuracy, reduce potential risks, and devise a surgical methodology to reach the heart and complete the ablation and heart transplantation process for the patient without cutting the rib cage, and applying it virtually 7 consecutive times over 3 days to verify the effectiveness of the innovative methodology.
