FIIA seizes large amount of counterfeit currency and arrests holders in Karbala

The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency-FIIA announced on Saturday, the seizure of a substantial amount of counterfeit currency and the arrest of its holders in Karbala.
 
According to a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), FIIA stated, "Based on precise intelligence information gathered by the FIIA's specialized anti-organized crime units in Karbala, two suspects were identified traveling in a vehicle with a significant amount of counterfeit national currency, attempting to circulate and sell it within the province."
 
The statement added, "Immediately, an intelligence task force was formed, and a field surveillance operation was conducted, leading to a well-planned ambush. The suspects were apprehended, and the counterfeit currency in their possession was seized, along with the vehicle they were using. Upon interrogation, they explicitly admitted to their prior knowledge of the counterfeit money they intended to circulate within Karbala."
 
The statement further stated that the suspects have been "referred to the relevant judicial authorities to receive their just punishment."
