OPEC Secretary General lauds Iraq's prominent and diverse contributions to the organization

    OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al-Ghais reaffirmed on Saturday, that Iraq has played a pivotal and diverse role since the founding of OPEC.
     
    In remarks followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Ghais stated: "I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the member states of OPEC, President of the Republic of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid, and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of OPEC’s establishment in Baghdad."
     
    He highlighted that "the founding of OPEC signaled the dawn of a new, multilateral era of cooperation and dialogue within the global energy landscape," noting that "for decades, OPEC has adhered to the foundational principles it embraced at its inception, maintaining its critical leadership role in fostering oil market stability and ensuring the security of energy supplies."
     
    Al-Ghais further emphasized that "the Republic of Iraq is one of the five founding nations of OPEC, which was established in Baghdad, and has made significant and diverse contributions since the organization's foundation."

    He concluded by affirming that "the organization will continue to flourish and advance, bolstered by the unwavering support of its member states."
