The Arab Contact Committee dealing with direct dialogue with the Syrian government decided on Tuesday to hold the next meeting in Baghdad.
Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein chaired the second meeting of the Arab Contact Committee concerned with direct dialogue with the Syrian government with the aim of reaching a comprehensive solution to the crisis in Syria, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement - received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
The foreign ministers of the member states of the committee, namely Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon, in addition to Syria, participated in the meeting held on the sidelines of the Council of the League of Arab States meeting at the ministerial level, Cairo.
During the meeting, Hussein stressed "the importance of focusing on the humanitarian aspect, in a way that serves the interests of the brothers in the Syrian Arab Republic."
It was decided to hold the next meeting in Baghdad at the expert level, in preparation for holding the meeting of foreign ministers, which is also scheduled to be held in Baghdad as soon as possible, according to the statement.
