The President of the Asian and Arab Rugby Federations, Qais Al-Dhalai, received the delegation of the Iraqi Rugby Federation headed by the Hazza team and discussed ways to develop the game in Iraq during the meeting that brought them together at the headquarters of the Asian Federation in Dubai in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Federation, Muhammad Hanoun Al-Jazaery, and a member of the Federation, Muhammad Hassan.
A statement by the Rugby Federation, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "Al-Dhalai welcomed the delegation of the Iraqi Federation, stressing his great support for rugby in Mesopotamia through what he saw of the distinguished work and effort made by the Iraqi Federation to spread and develop the game."
Al-Dhalai added that "the continental federation supports all federations that it sees as persevering and serious, including Iraq, which, despite its newness in the game and the lack of financial support, is one of the most prominent effective federations in Asia."
For his part, Hazza conveyed the greetings of the President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muftan, to the President of the Asian and Arab Rugby Federations, extending an official invitation to repeat his visit to Baghdad after his first visit in 2022.
Hazza indicated that the meeting with Al-Dhalai was fruitful and serves the interests of rugby in Iraq through the great support provided by the President of the Asian Federation.
