Germany has completed the withdrawal of its military forces from Niger on Friday morning, former German ambassador to Niger Hermann Nicolai announced.
"The last German troops withdrew this morning based on an agreement between the two countries," Nikolai told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the N-TV website reported that German forces would abandon their air base in Niger's capital, Niamey, which was used as a military transportation center, due to the failure of negotiations.
The Niamey base was expected to be closed by August 31 and the military personnel transferred to Germany.
