Iraq President Barham Salih asserted the need of Iraq and Turkey to reach out an inclusive agreement regarding the water issues.
“My visit to Turkey has an evident message of which Iraq is looking for a return to the same strong regional position and Iraq seeks strategic cooperation with Turkey,” stated Salih during the joint press conference with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara.
He also stated that the people of the region don’t need protection from abroad and they can end the struggles alone, adding, “Everybody must collaborate to hinder any attempt that threats the stability of the region,”
Salih explained that a meeting of the mutual economic committee with Turkey is to be held in Baghdad soon.
At the same time, Erdoğan promised to offer a donation of $5 billion to reconstruct Iraq as it was clarified during the Kuwaiti Conference to Reconstruct Iraq.
