Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani visited Nasiriyah International Airport in Dhi Qar Province today to review the ongoing construction work and the progress made on various project facilities.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA),”During his tour of the airport, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for the airport to comply with international aviation standards and regulations, particularly in aspects related to runway construction and navigation systems.”
The Prime Minister reiterated ,”the importance of implementing the solutions for airport projects agreed upon in the last two meetings he chaired, with a specific focus on Nasiriyah Airport."
He noted,” that this visit is a continuation of previous directives concerning this unique project, which aligns with the government's vision to boost economic and tourism activities in Dhi Qar Province he also highlighted the broader significance of airport projects for Iraq’s overall development.”
The airport, which is expected to be completed by mid-next year, is designed to accommodate 750,000 passengers annually. It will feature a passenger terminal, a VIP lounge, a cargo terminal, and a 3.4-kilometer runway. Additionally, the airport will have a control tower equipped with the latest navigation technology, a network of surrounding roads, and a 100-room hotel.
