Following Al-Sudani directives, traffic takes measures to reduce accidents during the Arbaeen pilgrimage

    The General Traffic Directorate announced on Friday, that it has taken a set of measures to reduce accidents during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
     
     
    The Director General of Traffic, Major General Raad Mahdi Abdul Sahib, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "in implementation of the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, the traffic directorates in Baghdad and the governorates were directed to be fully alert by deploying patrols and detachments on all routes used by pilgrim and taking measures to reduce traffic accidents," noting that "the procedures included traffic awareness for vehicle drivers to avoid all violations and adhere to the specified speed, and stressing to vehicle drivers not to drive the vehicle while they are physically tired or sleepy to preserve the lives of passengers." 
     
    He pointed out that "the procedures also included emphasizing the work of smart radars that were directed and followed up by the Minister of Interior to monitor violators," stressing that "the radars that were installed and began operating according to an integrated plan on external roads and highways from border crossings towards the holy Karbala will be a deterrent to reduce traffic violations and accidents."

Abdul Sahib called on " pilgrim to adhere to traffic lines and avoid random crossing to prevent run-over accidents, and to seek the help of traffic police and other security forces in order to cross the road safely."
     
    The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, directed the Ministry of Interior today, Friday, to provide all its capabilities to prevent traffic accidents during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
