The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, directed on Friday, the Ministry of Interior to provide all its capabilities to prevent traffic accidents during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
A statement by the Ministry of Interior received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, directed today the Ministry of Interior, through the General Traffic Directorate, as well as the supporting departments, to work on provide all capabilities to prevent traffic accidents during the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)."
Al-Sudani stressed "the full mobilization of the General Traffic Directorate and the deployment of its detachments on all roads used by pilgrim and the monitoring of the work of cameras and radars on external roads."
For its part, the Supreme Security Committee for Securing the Arbaeen Pilgrimage called on "all vehicle owners to be careful while driving, not to exceed the speed limit, and to pay attention and fully cooperate with all security agencies to avoid traffic accidents during this million-person pilgrimage."
