The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced on Sunday, the arrest of an ISIS member, known as “Abu Hajer,” in Tarmiyah, north of Baghdad.

According to a statement received by The Iraqi News Agency (INA), the arrest was the result of a thorough intelligence operation conducted with judicial authorization. This successful operation is a crucial step in dismantling ISIS networks in the region.

The statement revealed that “Abu Hajer” had been involved in intimidating and extorting local leaders, tribal chiefs, influential figures, and security personnel. He used threatening text messages to coerce these individuals and targeted residents who set up surveillance cameras to avoid detection.

Confronted with substantial evidence, “Abu Hajer” admitted to these activities under the banner of the so-called “North Baghdad State.” The suspect was found with multiple SIM cards, firearms, and ammunition. He, along with the seized items, has been handed over to the relevant judicial authorities for further legal action.
