The ceremony of changing the flags at the Hussein and Abbasid holy shrines began a short while ago, marking the advent of the holy month of Muharram for the Hijri year 1446.
The replacement ceremony was held on Sunday evening in the Holy Shrine of Imam Al-Hussein in the presence of religious figures and a large crowd of believers, amid an ambiences of sorrow, marking the beginning of the season of grief and condolences for the family of the Prophet, peace be upon him, over the martyrdom of Abu Abdullah Al-Hussein, his family, and his companions on the day of Ashura, the 10th of Muharram.
