The Tourism Authority of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities announced today, Monday, the achievement of advanced completion rates in the rehabilitation work of the city of Ur, while noting the agreement to establish 4 hotels in Al-Muthanna Governorate.
The Director General of Inspection and Follow-up at the Tourism Authority of the Ministry of Culture, Muayyad Haitham Rasan, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We visited Al-Muthanna Governorate and went to Lake Sawa, where the mechanism for restoring water to the lake was discussed.”
He pointed out, "There are more than 150 artesian wells that caused the lake to dry up," noting that "the lake falls within the work of the Ramso Organization, which depends on two criteria: groundwater and the lime present in the lake."
He explained, "A meeting was held with the Ministry of Water Resources and governorate officials, and it was agreed to restore Sawa Lake to work in the coming months."
On the other hand, Rasan said, “Muthanna Governorate lacks hotels,” stressing, “There has been an agreement with the governor to allocate amounts from local government revenues and build 4 hotels in the governorate soon.”
In a related context, the Director General of Inspection and Follow-up at the Tourism Authority noted that “works in the tourist city of Ur have reached approximately 70 percent,” noting that “the qiblah of Christ’s Hajj will be completed very soon, in addition to the establishment of two hotels in the city.”
