Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed, today, Thursday, the preparation of a study on the use of the Development Route in transporting oil and gas.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani chaired the regular meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Development Route Project, in the presence of the Minister of Transport and a number of officials in the ministries of planning, oil, electricity, and communications, and advisors to the Prime Minister.” During the meeting, the executive procedures for the development road project were reviewed and the implementation of previous directives was followed up.
He added, "The meeting witnessed the discussion of a study of the service corridor in the project, which includes the path of the optical cable lines, the two paths of oil and gas lines, and the paths of electricity and renewable energy transmission. In this regard, Al-Sudani directed the Ministry of Oil to prepare a consultative study to link the Ministry of Oil's projects to a strategic vision for using the development path in Transporting oil and gas, as well as exporting it according to the investment and production map. Al-Sudani also directed the relevant ministries to receive and study ideas and not to take any decision except through the Supreme Committee for the Development Route Project.
He continued, "The meeting discussed the inclusion of the project in the budget of the Ministry of Planning, and the file of transit and customs developments. It was also decided that the General Land Transport Company would be the guarantor of the transport of goods on the development road at the present time."
