Four drug traffickers, including a woman, were given death sentences by the Basra Criminal Court on Wednesday.
The Iraqi News Agency (INA) obtained a statement from the Supreme Judicial Council stating that "four drug traffickers, including a woman, were given death sentences by the Basra Criminal Court for the crime of trafficking in drugs."
"Hashish and methylamphetamine were found in the possession of the four convicts," the statement continued.
The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017's Article 27 / I provisions, the statement noted, were followed in imposing the sentences.
