Najaf Criminal Court: life imprisonment for a drug dealer

Najaf Criminal Court issued, on Monday, a life sentence against a drug dealer for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances.

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that" Najaf Criminal Court issued, a life sentence against a drug dealer for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances”.

"The convict was found in possession of (2000) tablets of the narcotic substance methylamphetamine", the statement added.

The statement pointed out that" The sentence was issued based on the provisions of Article 28/ I of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances law No. 50 of 2017".
