The Ministry of Interior announced the seizure of a laboratory for manufacturing narcotic substances during a security operation outside the borders of Sulaymaniyah Governorate.
Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Miqdad Miri said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “the operation was carried out by the Federal Directorate of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Affairs in cooperation with the Narcotics Control Directorate in Sulaymaniyah, and it was carried out following information received from the Syrian authorities to their Iraqi counterpart about the existence of a laboratory for manufacturing crystal and Captagon, outside Sulaymaniyah.”.
He added, "Following this information, a joint force moved to the location of the factory, which is two hours away from the center of the city of Sulaymaniyah, and arrested 4 defendants inside it, wanted in international drug trade cases, and seized between 150-180 kg of narcotic substances."
