The University of Baghdad's College of Mass Communication staged a demonstration in support of the Gaza Strip's citizens today, Thursday, in opposition to the ongoing Zionist assaults, violations, and massacres carried out by the Zionist occupation against the Palestinian people.

"Organizing today a stand in solidarity with the people of Gaza, in a manifestation of rejection of the repeated Zionist attacks, violations and massacres practiced by the Zionist occupation against the proud Palestinian people and their basic rights," the College of Mass Communication said in a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA). This was in response to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naim Al-Aboudi, who called on Iraqi academic institutions to organize vigils of victory and support for people of Palestine, their children, women, and the elderly who face the Zionist Death Alliance, as well as to express support for free voices in international universities that have denounced the crimes of the occupation."

"Our people in Gaza, dignity and steadfastness, are exposed to the most heinous human crimes after the daily massacres and genocide have become a daily event that the international community laments, adding that the Palestinians have turned into mere numbers and statistics in the news," said Ammar Taher, dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, during the vigil, which was attended by college, students, and administrative staff.

He said that sincere voices from all over the world and in American universities have come together to support oppressed people and work together to reclaim their rights, we are witnessing a human awakening. He further stated that the world is currently hearing loud and clear messages that silence is cowardice and shame, that silence is a license to kill, that allowing an entire people to starve, that bombing and death are acts of shame that history does not wash away.
