The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, confirmed today, Friday, that Iraq reserves its full right to respond to the Australian behavior.
Al-Mubarqa said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “At a time when we condemn and denounce the irresponsible behavior of the management of the and the Australian Football Association, by deliberately insulting Iraq, and trying to reflect a negative image of security stability, by refusing to play in Karbala International Stadium, is the second time that the Australian Federation has taken an approach that is contrary to reality, and what is happening on the ground by praising the International and Asian Federations for the success of the tournaments and matches on our soil with repeated visits by the highest officials in the two federations.”.
He pointed out, “In view of this, and in order to protect Iraq’s gains, its name, and its international standing, we call on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hand over a protest note to the Australian ambassador in Baghdad to understand the reasons for the rejection, as this behavior offends Iraq and its people,” indicating, “We reserve our right to respond and deal reciprocally according to the accredited diplomacy frameworks.” .
