Rashid receives a written message from his Azerbaijani counterpart

    President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received today, Wednesday, a written message from his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev.
     
    The Presidency’s Media Department stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received a written message from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, which included his invitation to participate in the Climate Summit Conference (COP 29), which will be held in the capital, Baku, within next November,” noting that “this came during the President of the Republic’s reception, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Iraq, Nasir Mammadov.”
     
     
    Rashid stressed "the necessity of holding such conferences in light of climate change and its consequences on the environment, such as high temperatures, desertification and drought, which most countries of the world suffer from," pointing to "the importance of following up on the implementation of the decisions and recommendations issued by previous conferences and activating them in order to address the effects of the climate changes,  and obligating countries to implement standards that guarantee the protection of the environment from pollution.”
     
    He pointed out "the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding the volume of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of economy, investment, tourism and air transport, and benefiting from their potential to achieve comprehensive development."
     
    For his part, Ambassador Mammadov expressed his “high appreciation for the President of the Republic’s interest in developing relations and communication and coordination mechanisms between Iraq and Azerbaijan,” stressing his country’s “desire and keenness to consolidate cooperation ties with Iraq in various fields.”
