The visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iraq tomorrow, the first in 13 years, will gain great importance in light of the need to discuss many common files that require finding solutions, especially water files, oil exports from Kurdistan region, the path of development, economic and banking cooperation, and the joint security file.

It is expected that the visit will witness the signing of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding on bilateral and strategic files, while the government confirms that the water files and economic cooperation, especially the development path, will be the most prominent thing that will be discussed, while experts believe that the visit will support the government’s vision in implementing projects and concluding strategic partnerships through cooperation with neighboring countries, as well as eliminating crises by resolving outstanding issues.

Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani confirmed in statements that preceded the visit that “the Turkish president’s visit is not a passing visit and we will discuss the status of solutions to the water issue,” explaining that “for the first time we find there is a real desire between Iraq and Turkey to go to solutions and not postpone files.”
