Zeidan: international cooperation between judicial authorities is an urgent necessity in light of cross-border challenges

President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zidan emphasized , on Sunday , that international cooperation between judicial authorities is an urgent necessity in light of cross-border challenges, while pointing out that international agreements and joint initiatives have shown that united action leads to more effective and fair results.

Zidan, in a speech during his participation with a judicial delegation at the permanent international forum for commercial courts hosted by Qatar University in the presence of the President of the Judicial Council in Qatar Mohammed Al Mohannadi ,the Minister of Justice in Qatari Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi and a number of heads of judiciary in the member countries of the forum and a distinguished group of judges and legal experts from around the world, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said  "this forum plays an important role in enhancing cooperation between commercial courts around the world, through which the best practices in the field of commercial litigation are exchanged”.

"Under globalization, crimes and organized crime have become transnational, which requires close cooperation between the judicial authorities of different countries to combat these phenomena", Zidan added.

Zidan added that " international cooperation in the judicial field reflects our common commitment to the rule of law and efficient justice, and enhances our ability to face global legal challenges in a spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding by pointing out some important points that dedicate and strengthen cooperation between judicial authorities, namely: the importance of international cooperation in combating transnational crimes, such as terrorism, money laundering and human trafficking - the need to exchange information and experience between judicial authorities in different countries in order to enhance justice and efficiency of justice systems-the importance of developing effective mechanisms for extradition and execution of judicial sentences, providing mutual legal assistance– Formulate recommendations for the conference on the best ways to strengthen international cooperation between judicial authorities".
