President Rashid: Iraq looks forward to excellent relations with neighbor Turkey at various levels

    President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid affirmed ,on Sunday, that Iraq is looking forward to distinguished relations with Turkey at various levels.

    A statement from the media office of the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that " President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq , Ali Reza Guney ", indicating that "during the meeting, emphasis was placed on the development of bilateral relations, strengthening aspects of cooperation and coordination between the two countries to serve the common interests of the two friendly peoples”.

    The President of the Republic emphasized "the importance of strengthening relations and cooperation between Baghdad and Ankara, and strengthening joint work at the International and regional levels to consolidate security, stability and peace in the region”, according to the statement.

    President Rashid pointed out that "Iraq is looking forward to distinguished relations with neighboring Turkey at various levels, and it is keen to establish relations with brotherly and friendly countries based on respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs".

    For his part, ambassador Ali Reza Guney expressed his country's striving to consolidate cooperation and mutual coordination to come up with common understandings on issues between the two countries and regional issues".

    The ambassador also reviewed the ongoing arrangements for the visit of the Turkish President to Iraq.
