Acting Speaker of the Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi called, on Sunday, for cooperation in order to consolidate the democratic experience to prevent the return of dictatorship.

A statement from the Media Office of the Acting Speaker of the Parliament, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that "the crime of Anfal, in which the criminal Baath regime used internationally banned chemical weapons to hit unarmed civilians in Kurdistan and cause the death and displacement of thousands, formed a stigma on the forehead of this regime, and revealed its ugly face in front of the world because it does not hesitate to use all means of murder, torture and displacement as a means of remaining in power”.

Al-Mandalawi stressed that "the persecution suffered by the Iraqi people at the hands of the fascist Baathist regime is pushing us today as Iraqis and various components to cooperate seriously towards consolidating the democratic experience and strengthening the state of citizenship to preserve freedoms and rights under the roof of Iraq, and to prioritize the interest of the people and consolidate the pillars of security and stability to move towards building the homeland”.
