FIFA World Cup 26: Iraq wins a match against Philippines

    In a thrilling encounter, the Iraqi national football team secured a momentous win by defeating their Filipino counterparts with a commanding scoreline of five goals to nil.

    The match, held on Tuesday in Manila, Philippines, formed part of the Group Six fixtures in the dual Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

    The goals came thick and fast for the Iraqi side, with Ayman Hussein netting twice in the 14th and 36th minutes, while Amir Al-Ammari added another in the 30th minute. Zidan Iqbal extended the lead further in the 61st minute, and Zaid Tahseen sealed the victory with a fifth goal in the 77th minute.

    This resounding victory not only boosts the morale of the Iraqi team but also secures their qualification for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. 

    Additionally, it propels them into the third round of the arduous qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
