Ministry of Water Resources: Mosul Dam is safe

The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed on Monday, the safety of the Mosul Dam.

“Some pages published false news on social media about the seriousness of the situation in the Mosul Dam,” included a statement by the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The statement added, "The Ministry of Water Resources denounces such false and misleading statements and reserves its legal right to sue these pages that raise concern in the Iraqi street."

"The Ministry of Water Resources confirms the safety of the Mosul Dam and that it is completely safe as it is in its best condition. It is ready to receive any future water imports due to the presence of a large storage vacuum in its lake. Maintenance, drilling and filling work is ongoing around the clock by the working staff of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs. This has been clarified on more than one occasion and officially by the Ministry on this occasion," included in the statement.

According to the statement, the Ministry called on “everyone to take information from official sources and not to be driven by rumors and false news.”
