SJC : Life Sentence for a Drug dealer and a Criminal who carried out an attack on a Police Station

    The Supreme Judicial Council –SJC announced, on Sunday ,that Najaf Criminal Court issued a life sentence against a drug dealer, while pointing out that Salahuddin Criminal Court issued a life sentence for a criminal who carried out an attack on a police station.

    SJC stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "The convict was seized in possession of half a kilogram of the narcotic substance methylamphetamine”.

    The statement added that "the verdict was issued based on the provisions of Article 28/ I of the law on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances No. 50 of 2017".

    In a related context, the statement explained that " Salah al-Din Criminal Court issued a life sentence to a criminal for belonging to Daesh terrorist gangs and participating in terrorist operations”.

    "The criminal joined forces with elements of Daesh terrorist gangs to carry out an attack on the Baiji police station in 2005” noting that “the sentence against him was issued based on the provisions of Article 194/ the first part of the Penal Code No. 111 of 1969 as amended and the indication of articles of participation 47, 48, 49 of it based on the provisions of Article 132/ 1”the statement said.
