The Deputy Speaker of Parliament arrives in Switzerland

Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, arrived today, Friday, at the head of a parliamentary delegation to the Republic of Switzerland to participate in the work of the 148th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
 
 
The media office of the head of the Iraqi delegation said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that “The Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Shakhwan Abdullah Ahmed, arrived at the head of a parliamentary delegation to the Republic of Switzerland to participate in the work of the (148th) session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its accompanying meetings, as scheduled to be held in Geneva, and they were received by Ambassador Abdul Karim Hashim Mustafa, head of the representation in Geneva, and a number of the representation’s staff.
Ahmed added, “The delegation’s participation came in response to the invitation sent to the presidency of the Council by the presidency of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and important files and issues will be discussed, including the emphasis on strengthening the performance of parliaments, directing work to achieve stability in conflict areas, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, and protecting human rights.”
