Rashid: The judiciary is an essential pillar for building and advancing society

    President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed today, Thursday, that the judiciary is an essential pillar for building and progressing society.

    A statement from the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “the President of the Republic received the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan,” noting that “during the meeting, the security and political situations in the country were discussed, in addition to the role of the judiciary in consolidating the force of law and justice.”.

    President Rashid stressed according to the statement that “the judiciary is an important pillar of the state and a fundamental pillar of society’s building and progress, and through it rights and property are preserved, justice is established, the law is applied, the oppressed are treated fairly, and security and stability prevail.”.

    The President of the Republic praised the judiciary and their role in implementing legislation and laws that preserve the political and democratic system and enhance the status of Iraq.

    In turn, Judge Faiq Zaidan stressed that “the Judicial Council, and through its formations, works to establish the values of justice, right, and fairness to be the true support for preserving private and public rights.”

    He pointed out that "the Council made a clear mistake, embodied in consolidating the independence of the judiciary, distancing itself from any interference or pressure, and supporting it with everything that ensures its sound performance and strength."

    The statement indicated, "During the meeting, cooperation and coordination were discussed between the Presidency of the Republic and the Judicial Council in issuing and approving legal legislation that serves the citizen."
