The Directorate of Civil Defense in Duhok Governorate announced on Tuesday, the death of two people and the damage of more than 30 homes due to floods.
The directorate’s media official, Lieutenant Colonel Biwar Abdulaziz, said in a statement to the Iraqi news channel, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Floodwaters entered several houses along the Hishkaro River in downtown Duhok,' noting that 'the floods caused the deaths of the two individuals who were missing, as they were found in the Nazarki tunnel located on the main Barzan Street in Duhok city, in addition to the damage to more than 30 houses due to the floods in Duhok city as an initial toll.
He urged 'drivers and citizens coming from Erbil to Duhok not to pass through the main Barzan Street due to the floods and to use the Badriek road instead.
Most of the provinces of Iraq witnessed heavy rainfall yesterday, resulting in floods in several cities, including Duhok and Erbil.
