Iraq and Turkey discuss bilateral relations between the two countries at the political and economic levels

    Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, Muhammad Bahr al-Ulum, discussed with the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic, Ahmed Yildiz, today, Friday, the bilateral relations between the two countries at the political and economic levels.

    A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said: “The Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations, Muhammad Hussein Muhammad Bahr al-Ulum, received the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic, Ahmed Yildiz, and the delegation accompanying him, on the sidelines of the meeting of the security mechanism between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Turkey in Baghdad, in the presence of The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ankara, Majid Al-Lajmawi.

    The statement added, "During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed at the political and economic levels, security issues, water, and how to address them, in preparation for the upcoming visit of the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Iraq.".

    Bahr al-Ulum confirmed, according to the statement, “the Iraqi government’s intention to move forward with the development road project, which will raise the volume of trade exchange between the two countries to very high levels,” calling on Ankara to contribute to reconstruction projects and investment in various sectors after the security situation in the country was stabilized, which constituted an incentive for foreign companies to work and invest freely and flexibly.”.

    The statement continued, "The two sides discussed the regional and international situation and the events taking place in the region."
    The statement pointed out, "Bahr al-Ulum expressed his thanks for Ankara's efforts to support the Palestinian people with humanitarian aid and the file of the wounded in Gaza, expressing Iraq's readiness to cooperate with the relevant Turkish authorities with the aim of coordinating the transfer of numbers of these wounded to Iraqi hospitals.".

    The statement concluded, "Yildiz, for his part, expressed his country's government's continued support of the efforts of the current Iraqi government to advance the economy and strengthen bilateral relations at all levels."
